Michael is the founder of Members Only Software. A certified nerd with a degree in physics from MIT, Michael has been working closely with non-profits and associations since the early 70's, when he worked for the Berkeley Community Health Project in Berkeley, California. Later in D.C. he was appointed by the mayor to the State Health Coordinating Council, and currently serves on the board of Segida Keneyali: The Mali Health Organizing Project. When he's not glued to a keyboard and monitor he plays old time fiddle, cooks up a storm, and likes to get off the pavement and into the woods now and then.
One of the founding partners of Members Only Software, Doria both tends the trees and surveys the forest. She represents Members Only to prospective clients and the community. She also monitors and guides the company's financial goals. Doria is very proud of our company's long standing partnership with our clients - those of many months and those of many years.
Doria has a B.A. from Duke University. Her first career was as a social worker in Protective Services for Children. After earning her Masters in Instructional Design from University of North Carolina, she produced educational films on staff for Legal Services and Save The Children. At GWU Medical Center, Doria designed her first computer-based instruction. The pixels were cast. Soon after, she joined Michael in his enthusiasm to pursue and develop Members Only Software, and since then it's been all software, all the time.
Doria is a great driver and a good friend. Once she reads one murder mystery, she reads the whole series.
Jochen, a German-American, obtained first degree as a Diplom Informatiker in Berlin. A few months before the opening of the wall in 1989, he joined Michael, Doria and Curtis in 1989, continuing his studies at the University of Maryland and obtained his Master of Science in 1993. After overseeing the Berlin office through 1997, Jochen returned to Washington. He enjoys traveling, and has recently been bitten by the sailing bug. He has put a few thousand nautical miles on his sailboat Kauila, equipped, of course, with a minimum of two laptops and internet access at all times. In addition to fluency in German and English, Jochen is also proficient in French.
Curtis majored in Computer-based Information Systems at Howard University. He then became a programmer from 1986 to 1987 at George Washington University Medical Center where he first met Doria and then Michael. They have continued their working relationship at Members Only for the past 20 years. Curtis specializes in working with our YMCA and YWCA clients, where he is the master of electronic funds transfer and online registration.
Robin has been with Members Only for over ten years. He had an earlier career as a commercial printer, and while living in New York City spent a couple of years editing an alternative poetry magazine called Sanskaras. He says most of his experience has been real-life, but at various times he studied at Rutgers, the New School for Social Research, and Goddard College ('73). Most of his computer science classes were at CCBC Catonsville. But he says the most educational experience of his life began when he and his soul-mate [didn't last] left New York in 1969 with all their worldly goods in a Volkswagen and spent two years roaming around New Mexico, camping out in the warm months, finding shelter and part-time employment when it got colder. He has a house and 40 mostly wooded acres in Piedmont Virginia now, and spends his free time taking walks and bicycle rides, enjoying the trees and the birds.
Trang worked as a teaching assistant, teaching computer programming at George Mason University. while she was earning her Master's degree in Computer Science. She started as an intern at Members Only in 2005 and became a full-time programmer upon graduation. Trang loves traveling, seeing different places, and experiencing new things. Her goal is to visit a new state each year. She's already covered 15 and while she knows it will take her a bit to get to all 50, she's looking forward to it.
